Using the Contacts app
Follow these steps to manually add a contact using the Contacts app:
- Open the Contacts app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap the + icon at the top right corner.
- Enter the contact’s first and last name, phone number, and any additional details like email or address.
- Tap Done to save the contact.
Additional options 1. You can also add a photo to the contact by tapping Add Photo and choosing a picture from your gallery. 2. Use Notes to add extra information like a nickname or other relevant details.
Adding contacts from the Phone app
You can quickly add a contact while making a call:
- Open the Phone app and go to the Recent tab.
- Tap the i (info) icon next to the number you want to save.
- Select Create New Contact or Add to Existing Contact.
- Enter the details and tap Done.
Importing contacts from other sources
If you have contacts stored on a SIM card, Google account, or another device, you can easily import them:
From a SIM card:
- Insert your SIM card into the iPhone.
- Go to Settings > Contacts > Import SIM Contacts.
- Wait for the process to complete. Your contacts will now appear in the contacts app.
From Google account:

Backup your contacts: regularly back up your contacts to iCloud. Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud and toggle on Contacts.
Troubleshooting common issues
1. New contacts not saving Ensure that your default account for new contacts is set correctly. Go to Settings > Contacts > Default Account.
2. Contacts not syncing with iCloud Make sure iCloud Contacts is enabled. Go to Settings >[Your Name] > iCloud and toggle on Contacts.
3. Duplicates in your contact list Use the Look for Duplicates feature in the contacts app or manually merge contacts.
